GUJCOST Sponsered Seminar on Parenteral Drug Delivery System and Technology

GUJCOST sponsored 2 days national seminar on “Recent Advances in Parenteral Drug Delivery Systems & Technology” was organized on 20th & 21st February 2019 at S.K. Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Ganpat University, Mehsana, Gujarat (North). The financial support of Rs. 40,000/- was received from GUJCOST by Dr. Rakesh P. Patel as a program co-ordinator to organize this seminar. In this seminar, 87 participants were participated and presented a poster on topics related to pharmaceutical sciences. The seminar started with inaugural function on 20th February 2019. Dr. R. K. Patel, Deputy Director, Ganpat University & Principal of S.K. Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education & Research has encouraged and explained the importance of the seminar in their professional and education development. Dr. Rakesh P. Patel, program co-ordinatior of this seminar has introduced the participants about the theme of the seminar and gave brief over view of the seminar.Dr. Vijay Chauhan, Diercetor, Thinq Pharma – CRO Ltd, Ahmedabad was chief guest of the inaugural function and has delivered a key note address on importance and market growth of parenteral formulations. He gave an overview of different parenteral formulations trending in the market and care to be taken while manufacturing with a special focus on technologies.The next session was delivered by Dr. P. D. Bhardia, Professor from L. M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad on Product Failures in Parenterals: Key issues. He discussed the key issues related to the failure of the parenteral product with reference to USFDA and recalls and their so-called remedies.The 3rd session of first day was delivered by Dr. Ashok Baria, Manager in IPR from Amneal Pharmaceuticals, Ahmedabad on Parenteral DDS: IP Fencing & Business Strategy. He outlined detail business strategies for growth and earning in the field of parenteral products. He also described the role of intellectual properties with advanced parenteral formulations with some examples.The last session was organized for review and research presentations by the participants. There were 9 research and 15 review poster presented by the praticipants of the seminar and these posters were evaluated by Dr. Ashok Baria. Out of these presentation, the Research poster on “Formulation and development of Bosentan loaded Once a daily tablet for pulmonary artery hypertension using lipid matrices by 32 Full Factorial Design” by Mr. Umang Varia & Review poster on “Novel drug delivery approaches in ophthalmic preparation” by Ms. Maheka Shukla was selected as best Research and Review Poster, respectively. On the 21st February, the 1st session was delivered by Dr.Bhupendra G. Prajapati from host institution on “Microbubble based drug delivery systems”. He describes the role of the microbubble as the carrier in brain targeting as non-invasive and successful technology with a combination of ultra-high sonification.The 2nd session on this day was delivered by Dr.Krutika Sawant, Professor from Faculty of Pharmacy, The M. S. University of Baroda on Nanoparticles in parenteral drug delivery. She gave a detail note on various nanoparticle successfully used in research and market for parenteral drug delivery.The last session was delivered by Mr. Satyam Pandya, Sr. Manager- Corporate from Puniska Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., Ahmedabad on Parenteral Preparations- Challenges and Advancements Technology to counter challenges. He elaborated on challenges industries are facing in developing and optimization of parenteral formulation. He also gave a brief overview of new technologies for large scale production. At the end of the seminar, certificate were distributed to the participants and vote of thanks were delivered to GUJCOST, DST, Government of Gujarat and others who directly and indirectly involved in successful planning and organization of this seminar.
